Macie's Story

A little over three years ago, my 2 year old Yorkshire Terrier, Roxy died of a liver shunt. It was one of the saddest days of my life...
It took me a few weeks to heal and to this very day I miss her. Even though I only had her for two years, I was very close to her.
It also took me a bit to think about getting another one. I started looking at petfinder.com and looking in the local newspaper for several weeks to look for a reasonable price. Then one day I came upon one ad. The lady had different small breeds and as my mom talked to her, she described what we were looking for. A female puppy or a young dog. The lady said she had a 5 month old female puppy, so we decided to meet her.
That weekend, it was August 7th to be exact, the lady would meet us at my moms work. When she came, the back of the truck was full of dogs in cages. From Pomeranians to Chihuahuas to Yorkies, dachshunds, and poodles. It was a total mess and you could tell they were neglected. The lady's husband took out a yorkie forcefully, and gave it to me. I looked at it and then to my mom. He handed me a male. I gave him back to the husband and this time he took out another one by her neck.
As I held her I wasn't sure. She was matted completely all over her body. Entwined with dog poop and whatever else. This dog was not bathed for months. She was scared and I felt sorry for her. My mom did too. So we decided to take her.
As seen in the title above, I named her Macie, Macie Madison.

When I took her home, right away I took her a bath and tried to cut out the mats. The water was dirty as I washed her. She was afraid of her new surroundings and hid under the table. It took her a few hours to trust me and she did. My mom took her a second bath and worked on her hair also. Underneath all that filth and neglect was a sweet, adorable, happy puppy. I fell in love with her.. But that's just the beginning.
As weeks passed, Macie felt at home. The vet said she was strong and healthy. But something about Macie concerned us. Her belly was growing! Yes, viewers Macie was pregnant!!
We denied of her being pregnant because she was just a puppy. My mom thought she was constipated.
At about 7 in the morning on September 29, 2010, I woke up to crying. I thought it was Macie. I turned over to look on the other side of my bed and saw Macie with a puppy that was just born. I was so surprised. I got up to go to my moms room to tell her. The look on my face, made my mom though something was wrong. "Mom, Macie had a puppy!" I said.
Then she got up to see. I guess she wasn't a puppy after all. We figured about a year old. We went back to sleep and an hour later she had another puppy.
These puppies were all black and had white on there chest. They weren't full yorkie. It was funny because it happened on the day that Macie had to go to the vet to get her last "puppy" shot. So we took them along to check to see if they were healthy.  They were! And the vet thought our situation was funny too. We had to decide quickly on their first days if we wanted to dock their tails.
The puppies were a female and a male. I named them Ellie Paige and Teddy Bear Mason. We ended up giving away Teddy, but still see him all the time. I really wished we would of kept them both. Macie and Ellie fit into our home very well, and we love them :)

Teddy and Ellie @ 4 or 5 weeks!
